Currently, METT Centre has one family therapy unit at Silverton Primary.
Our aim is to have a unit at every school. As the name suggests, a team of therapists supports the family in these sessions.
A family is the place where a child can explore and learn social skills, communication,
family roles and to handle conflict. It is important that this environment be strengthened. We find it very
important to assist families in this manner, so that good foundations can be laid.

Some of the techniques we use:
- FIT (Family Interactional Tool): Making use of planned activities to help highlight the strengths and potential of the family.
- Reflecting Teams: Using the one way mirror as the main tool. The family is observed while doing a few activities together and swap positions with the therapists after 30 minutes. The family then observes while the therapists reflect on the session.
- MIM (Marshack Interactional Method) [used by psychologists at METT]: Evaluating the attachment between the parent and the child.
